Sequin-Related Injuries, New Year’s Eve Dress, Last-Minute Shopping Extravaganza: Check

26 Dec

Have you ever been in a fight with sequins? Because my friend Kim and I battled it out against a slew of dresses this evening at our local mall in search of the perfect last-minute party dress for next week. Though I emerged with plenty of scratches all over my body and found my way into a few dresses that were less easy to find my way out of, I am happy to say that I’ve found The One.

In case you were wondering, yes, I did buy my party dress for ringing in 2013 at a juniors shop, however, this time it was not Delia’s. I’m telling myself that’s totally okay because 1.) I’m only going to wear this dress once and 2.) …Well, there is no Reason #2. Nobody at Charlotte Russe needs to know that I’m probably about twice the age of their average customer, and nobody at my New Year’s Eve party will need to know that I snagged it for $20 at a shop frequented by teenage girls who aren’t even old enough to drive yet.

Considering where it came from, the dress is supercute. It has shiny sequins on top, an open back, and light pink ostrich feathers on the bottom. My only complaint is that the sequins stab into the skin. But sometimes beauty is pain, right? I’ve had the shoes for about a month now (Madden Girl, $40). They’re understated so the dress will be able to do the talking.20121226-215021.jpg

Also found: a mask (why, darling, I’ll be attending a masquerade ball), some shiny earrings, a shiny bracelet, and a cute bowtie ring (also shiny).

I still have a week to find a better dress, but I think I’m okay with this one. Thoughts? Comments? Feedback? I hope the guy I’ll be kissing at midnight (swoon) will like it.

I have bought apparel in the little girls section before, nothing wrong with that. I call it smart shopping :D that whole outfit sounds absolutely cute and so very you. I love the mask, only concern is… what if this super handsome looking man, with a very low voice talks to you? and you fall badly for him, and then… he takes the mask off and well I’ll leave the rest to your imagination ;)
must post a photo once you are at the party! have fun.
